Introduction
Over the past three years, government has made implementing accepted recommendations in the Alberta's Commission on Learning (ACOL) Final Report a priority.
Since the report's release, government has contributed more than $1.7 billion in support of the 87 accepted recommendations. This financial investment includes a decision to accelerate the timeline to reduce jurisdiction class size averages and reach the Commission's class size guidelines two years earlier than recommended.
Government Investment
Alberta's Commission on Learning recommended that costs be phased into the learning system over a 5-year period. In just three years, government had fully funded many of the recommendations and has made significant progress on others.
Status of Recommendations
Alberta Education, school boards and education partners are also working together to implement the accepted recommendations.
Only 8 of the 95 recommendations were not supported by government.
